Trend alert - food trucks

Staying with the food theme again this week. I have a new trend for you; well they have been around for sometime but all of a sudden gotten very popular. Step aside buffets and food stations, there’s a new catering trend in town – food trucks!  I love, love the idea of this type of catering and the casual feel of guests being able to head to a van select their favourite hot dish off the menu and chow down on picnic tables.

Food trucks are turning old fashioned street food into amazing, delicious, homemade food right on the spot. You can get gourmet hot dogs, pancakes and wine on wheels.

This clever trend is creating a new way of catering at events.  Now this trend is not for everyone like I say in every post, but as an event planner food trucks are great for the budget conscious, locations lacking in a kitchen or just a unique party option.

I don’t think rolling out a gourmet burger van will impress at your black tie event, give that thought a wide birth. To me food trucks seem more suited to a cute backyard wedding where the bride is wearing a flowing midnight summer’s dream wedding dress or even a rockabilly wedding, flipping burgers.

They roll out the food van and surprise guests with snacks or treats between ceremony and reception or on the way out cupcake treat. What better way to leave all your guests talking about the unique experience they had at your event.

This food trend has quickly become a surprise staple at an event and more recently, of the reception itself. The food van ups the fun factor and allows guests to put their own spin on dinner.
