Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meeting Expo (AIME)

Greetings event planners and like minded people. I’ve just come back from an amazing couple of days last weekend. I went down to Melbourne for the AIME Expo. It’s one of my favourite expos with over 1000 exhibitors from the event industry.

It’s mainly destination focused showcasing venues, conventions centres and what’s new in travel; however the chance to rub shoulders with the big wigs and eves drop was invaluable.

The sole purpose of exhibiting at AIME (as I got to find out working along side GCD Exhibition Hire) is the valuable opportunity to show case your product. You can get face to face with your existing clients, build new relationships, check out the latest trends and of course generate sales – this is unrivalled in the networking industry.

You have the potential to do business with over 3,500 industry buyers and trade visitors. Of course at a cost, it’s not for free, but what price do you put on that type of advertising?

I worked along side GCD who exhibited for the first time. My fun filled full-on two days was all about giving out straw hats, bags of chocolate and meeting up with other industry colleagues.

And for the party….The welcome reception was a grand affair, as always. Everything I’ve being saying in my blog about themes, food, ambience and entertainment – it was spot on. This is exactly what you want as an event planner – people blogging, twittering and facebooking. The night was a street party theme, red carpet, incredible food, awesome setting and great live entertainment with the occasional celebrity sighting and fireworks to end the night.

Perfect weekend. Now back to my day job; school lunches, remember to toilet train puppy, running Breeze Events and more rain.
